There’s something about a river
that draws me to its side
Effortlessly advancing
toward a lake or sea.
With abundance of freshness
it’s filled with life and health
Uninterrupted flowing
beyond the distant fields.
From gentle humble beginnings
– a fact of life itself
Amazingly appealing
amid a lonely past.
Whispers of the river embrace
the peace renews my mind
Majestically embracing
yonder pathways I see.

Thank you for such a truly beautiful verse!!! So well penned, My Dear! Really made me feel so peaceful as I’m listening to my headphones filled with the sound of a Babbling Brook (just in case you want to take a listen – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=grs95NjzdJs – great as a sleep aid too). Funny about that coincidence!! LOL!
Also thought you might enjoy one of my favorite poems on a river/brook – https://www.poets.org/poetsorg/poem/song-chattahoochee – great history of the poet too!
Thank you so much for your many views and for following my blog! So appreciated!!

Thanks so much for this exquisite poem. I was moved by the simplicity and tender expression of the peace that rivers evoke. As I read it, it brought to mind a similar experience as I rested by a river during a time when I visited a special place called Restoration Rivers in Virginia. I trust it will be a blessing to read.
Thanks also for the like you posted and for following my blog.
Restoration Rivers
He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul;
Psalm 23
By the still waters, God sat me down, and I wept,
Not in sorrow, but my soul overflowed with joy
When I recalled that He never slumbered nor slept
And what He designed for good nothing can destroy.
I released burdens, and without hesitation
Abba, Father assured me that He sees and cares..
As I wept by the rivers of restoration,
His heart of compassion was touched by fervent prayers.
In the hammock of love, the Spirit cradled me
And caressed my weary mind with a gentle breeze,
As I reflected on this phase of my journey,
While resting under a canopy of oak trees.
Our great Shepherd is faithful and still delivers;
Follow his leading to Restoration Rivers.

Sorry I took so long to respond to your thoughtful comment. Hubby placed a cup of tea beside my keyboard this morning on an uneven surface and you guessed it the whole lot spilled on to the keyboard. He has ony just return from the Apple store with a replacement. Have a great Lord’s day.
