My Eternal Home

To seek His face and sing to Him
Oh! What joy to me it will bring.
Even when my eyes are dim,
I will always be there, with my King.

To sit at His feet or dance for Him
Oh! What music, oh what hymns;
Angels all around the throne will sing
With joyful sounds, on might wings.

To tend His garden and meet with Him
Oh! What happiness this will bring;
Just to know Ill walk with Him
Forever, my eternal home to win.

Wisdom

Psalm 32:8 says: I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.

Seeking wisdom should be a part of life. Wisdom should be sort when making decisions for a life time partner, parenting wisdom (from newborns through school days) teens, their wedding plans etc. Wisdom is so important for guidance. Of course, theres an assortment of classes, counselling and generational pass-down of valuable experience. Wisdom is also needed during times of crisis and when under financial pressure.

Where do we find such wisdom?

James 1:5  If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

So why do we allow ourselves to stress out, panic or worry in times like this? How often do we seek wisdom from the Lord?

In the early years of my marriage, I used to stress over every minor crisis, especially when my husband was interstate with work or on a course where I couldnt contact him. When it came to a serious dilemma, I was panic stricken. It took sheer willpower to seek wisdom through His word and be strengthen by His truths. By seeking wisdom when a situation arose, I could take my concerns immediately to the Lord in prayer.

The next time theres a crisis or situations that requires wisdom, pray and seek out God’s wisdom in your circumstances. Through His Word and prayer, He will guide you through.

Father, show us wisdom in all situations that arise in our day-to-day lives. Teach us to trust you, seek out insights through your word and prompt us to pray through ever crisis. Strengthen us so we may stand firm when things happen that needs your wisdom to see us through.  Amen.

Author and Designer

Oh the beauty of the valley,
Swept with the new days mist
Timeless splendour through rolling hills
Capture the essence of creation.

Mountains rise above the plains,
Casting shadows like a caressing hug
Calmness enfolds the perilous terrains
Mirror the heart of their designer.

Distant thunder announces the rain,
Freshness rises to the clouds
Soundless rhythm of the breeze
Captivate the plan of each formation.

I can almost hear the angels sing,
Hundreds praise the name of the Lord
An endless chorus fills the air
Praise to God, the founding author.

Jesus speaks to open hearts

Jesus speaks to open hearts
Fills them with His awesome love.
Through Him we seek a healing touch
and feel his presence near.

Father, move within our hearts
Change our lives and set us free.
At the cross we bear our all
and find an answer there.

Holy Spirit, seeks my willing heart
to hear and obey his holy word.
Let my heart be open to your voice
and heed the message of your love.

Wait!

Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him – Psalm 37:7

When an answer to prayer is not quick in coming we often find ourselves focusing on the prayer itself and on the answer we desire to that prayer. While we know its good to be positive, and we know God will answer in His time, we need to wait on Him, the one who meets all our needsand Hes never late.

Its while we wait that we need to keep our eyes fixed on the Lord, study His Word and find instruction, comfort and encouragement. We need to trust Him and know that He can and will do what He considers best for His children.

Theres one thing I have learnt through waiting; it gives me the opportunity to give God the glory for an unwavering assurance that He has all things under control. Everything is in His hands and there is a time for everything.

Ecclesiastes 3:1 says: to everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven. Verse 11 – He hath made everything beautiful in his time: also, he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.

Wait in hope, perseverance, patience and joy because His grace is sufficient for me.

Father, help us to be patient with answers to prayer. Keep our eyes fixed on You knowing all things will come to pass in Your perfect timing. Amen

Prayer

Matthew 7:7 tells us to: Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.

1 John 5:1415 says: And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: and if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

Matthew 6:6 also tells us: But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

Prayer has to be my favourite topic and many related verses come freely. Prayer is an important part of my life and I wouldnt survive without it. My months of pain in 2017 brought me closer to the Father than I could ever believe possible. Prayer had a remarkable impact on my healing and recovery, and on those who prayed and believed with me.

Through prayer we have direct access to the throne room of God the Father, the almighty and living God. We can take anything to God in prayer and He hears us. Sometimes we need to wait for answers and sometimes his answer is no, but He does answer. Whether it is prayer for healing, finances, or salvation of a loved one, whatever the need, we ought to be diligent in our prayer requests.

Whatever is on your heart right now, tell Him. God already knows your need but we need to tell him what’s on our hearts and also give thanks for His answer, even before he gives it.

Father, you are my rock and my salvation. I hand all my circumstances over to you. Teach me how to pray. Give me the desire to draw closer to you so I may give all things over to you, believing your will and plan will be fulfilled in your perfect timing. Amen.

A New Dawn Rising

Echoes of early birds twill fill my ears,
Gleams of sun rays kiss my face,
Fragrances from the dew-fresh grass tease my senses.

Opening my eyes, I see a crimson sky
I can almost taste the sweetness of the early morning;
Sunlight announces a new dawn rising.

The Wonder of Creation

Freshness comes with the morning rain,

Sweet aromas stir the air,

Rock wallabies huddle under the Banksia,

Cockatoos squawk their disgust,

While sparrows splash about in puddles.

The Bottle-Brush droops heavy with wetness,

Streams form in the earth,

Possums scurry to find a drier sleeping place,

Goannas drink their fill,

And eagles find refuge in their lofty nests.

Windows transform with trickling moisture,

Dreary clouds threaten the day,

Kangaroos bound through the Aussie bush,

A snake slithers across the path

I watch the wonder of His great creation.

On the Wings of a – Duck?

It was a beautiful morning for a walk. After parking my little car close to the footpath that led to the river, I stepped onto the paved walkway and turned left toward my favourite place. The water was as smooth as silk. Its glass like appearance mirrored the beauty of Gods creation that surrounded it. The sun was warm and not a single cloud in the sky. The air was filled with the aroma of damp earth after the rain. I breathed in the fresh clean air, deep into my lungs. The heavens were filled with the sound of a flock of birds; all the indications of a beautiful day filled my senses.

It came from under the bridge. It was flying very low. Every now and then it skimmed the surface so lightly the tiniest ripple formed and died. Words of a well know song came to mind followed by the words of a verse.

Now thats strange. Theres the wing of a snow-white dove, and theres the wings of an eagle, but on the wings of a duck?

As I watched this unattractive but graceful, swift moving creature, I began to wonder just how awesome God really is. The power in those wings gave it the speed of an eagle, yet the gracefulness reminded me of a dove.

The charm of that duck brought me into a new understanding of beauty. God the designer and creator of the whole world, made all things, well.

Father, thank you for showing your glory in nature. I thank you that you continually to reveal your power to us even the simpleness and plainness of this duck.

Questions

Psalm 22:1 – My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, so far from my cries of anguish?

I believe God is big enough to carry our doubts, criticisms, anger, confusion and frustration, but there often seems to be no explanation to why things happen. Yes, we are free to question God, but we need to develop patience for God will reveal the answers only when we are ready to hear them.

Our world is not at all perfect, and neither are we. God is perfect. He wants us to continue to read His Word so our faith may be strengthened for He sent Christ to show us the way. Dont look to find meaning to the suffering, but let the suffering add meaning to our lives. If we have never suffered, how can we empathize with others who suffer? If we never fail, we cant lift up those who also fail. Our suffering adds meaning to our lives. Our pain adds to our love for others who also suffer, as we suffer, as Christ suffered.

Hebrews 4:16 says: Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

We need to ask God to help us to become more patience and more like what he wants us to be. Thank Him for the good things, and seek the resilience to endure the bad. To live, not in the shadow of fear and despair, but in the light of Gods love.

Perhaps one day, God will answer our questions of why? Perhaps we are just impatient, and want to know the answers before we are ready to understand or accept them. Whatever the reason, trust Him and know its all right to ask Him questions. Allow God to develop patience and trust.

Father, as we call on you in our times of need, help us to grow in patience and understanding as we learn to trust you in all things, bad and good, in our life. Amen

Whispers of the Dawn

Whispers of the Dawn

Gentle raindrops drizzle down,
Splashing into pond and streams.
Morning freshness all around
Spirit, wake from earthly dreams.

Robins greet the tranquil dawn
Sun-kissed roses, drip with dew
Crickets sing and daisies yawn
Light reveals this daily view.

Morning come with restful calm
Gentle whispers of the dawn
Touch me with His healing balm,
Former days and troubles gone.

Stillness come from deep within,
Peace and wonder fill this hour;
Praise and glory to begin,
Lord, fill me with your power.

Breathe new life into my soul
Fill my needs with your embrace.
Every day you make me whole,
In the knowledge of your grace.

Peaceful moments with my Lord,
Calmness flows within my veins,
Nature sings in sweet accord,
While His presence still remains.

Sunrays change to pastel hues,
Breathing in your gentle peace
Stillness of the dawn infuse,
Your great power to release.

Solace comes in daily prayer
Quiet dawn, my favourite hour
Wonders of His love declare
Daily blessings to empower.

Promises

Romans 8:38-39 – For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

This is one of those passages of Scripture that lingers in the air and echoes in the mind long after its been read. There is nothing that can separate us from the love of God. Thats one reassuring promise. Theres no one else who can make a promise like that and keep it.

Have you ever had someone make you a promise and not keep it? It hurts; especially when if someone made it you thought you could trust to fulfil that promise. Perhaps time overwhelmed them or situations changed, but it still leaves a sense of being totally rejected.

Have you told someone you would do something and didnt follow through? We need to be careful what we promise. I remember one time when my children were little that I had to break a promise in relation to a birthday party venue. The venue had changed owners and I was unaware of changed circumstances. I was no longer comfortable taking my children on the premises with its new clientele and their disturbing behavior. I broke a promise and had to explain my reasons, but as children are, I still broke my promise. I eventually found a more suitable place that the children were delighted with but from that time I usually added the words: unless something unforeseen happens and if its Gods will.

Promises of love can sometimes lead to devastation. Norm and I have had many friends over the years whose marriages have ended often in ugly divorces. Their ultimate reasons were usually based on broken promises. How sad.

Gods promises to us can never be broken and when I see God’s handiwork in the stars, breathe in the ocean air, take in the endless mountain views or the beauty in the land, I think how awesome his love is for me. Knowing that nothing or no one can stop that love is precious and eternal.

Oh Lord, the God of all creation, I praise your holy name. I am thankful for your overwhelming love for me. Your promises from Scripture fill me with hope and joy. Thank you for Your truth and honour that reigns forever. Amen.

Dawn

Jeremiah 1:20 – Ah Lord God! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee. (KJV)

A recent visit by the coast had me reminiscing about the days spent writing my first book. As I breathed in the seaside freshness, it stimulated the desires that once beckoned me to explore the dream. Pale pink clouds caressed the sunrise like a morning hug. Birds sang praises to welcome the dawn.

My thoughts reached out as in a dream, capturing a peace within my soul. While the sun elevated slowly into a glowing sky, words surged forth like a shifting stream. My fingers moved quickly to keep up with the flow of thoughts. My heart was overwhelmed by the outpouring of phrases previously unknown. Theres something about the break of day that gives freshness to the mind and releases expression onto a page.

Immersed in my writing, I was still aware of the increasing brightness filling the sky beyond the open window, but I was also conscious of the glow within my inner being. If there is ever a place I feel in harmony with God, is in absorbed in writing. To not write would create an empty cavern in my life.

My desire is to praise Him through words inspired by creation. My hopes and dreams rest in knowing that He is the only one I need to bring joy and delight.

Father, let Your Word penetrate my soul. You are the author of my faith. Allow me, Lord, to bring joy and delight to your heart in return. May the words I write be inspired by your love and grace. Amen.

My One Desire

Words of truth, words so pure,
Gentle words to warm my heart,
Deep desires, to seek His will.

His Spirit fills my deepest needs
My soul can only dare to hope
My one desire, to seek His will.

Words of hope, words of peace
A harmony of words to impart
Deep desires to learn His will.

His Spirit knows my every need,
My heart forever will be His own,
My one desire, to do His will.

Words of joy, words of love
Honest words that wont depart,
Deep desires to live in His will.

His Spirit will always lead me on,
My life I give to Him alone,
My one desire, to live His will.

Words of praise, words to sing
Valued expressions of love,
Deep desires to know His will.

His Spirit shares my inner fears,
My mind is centred on Him only,
My one desire to know His will.

Guidance

James 1:5-7 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.

God has promised to give us guidance but many of us have trouble finding Gods guidance. We want to be sure that we are in God’s will and we don’t want to take the wrong path.

If you are confused about the issue of guidance and God’s will for you, you need to know that satans intention is to confuse Christs followers about guidance and God’s will. Satan has been a liar and a cheat from the very beginning and he doesn’t want any of us to find God’s perfect plan for our lives.

But if you have made wrong decisions in your life you need to also know that you arent the only one. The Son of God can set us free. He can break through into realms of confusion and set us back on the right track again. Trust the Father to guide.

Are there great flashes from heaven to point to where you can visually see His divine will for your life? Most likely not, but its important that as children of God we know how God guides. You must know how to discern God’s will.

God’s guidance is always obvious. You might have to wait for a time for it to become clear, but when it comes, it’s always clear.

1 John 1:5 says “This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

If God is light, then in Him there is no darkness. God’s guidance will never be vague.

The first thing you need to do to find guidance in God’s will is to already have an obedient heart. Whatever God reveals it will also be at a price; a cost to your very life and will.

If you want to know God’s will, and have God’s will revealed to you, then be prepared to obey God. God is not going to reveal His will to anyone if disobedience is in their lives, because there won’t be obedient to the guidance He will give. Obey and take up your cross and follow Him daily. Youll not only anticipate guidance, you’ll see it – God will lead you clearly into the plan for your life.

Thank you, Father,  for your divine guidance for our lives. We are sometimes confused by what life throws at us but help us to continue to seek you through Your Word so our trust in you may be strengthened. Amen

Trials

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.  Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. James 1:2-4 (NIV)

How should we view the trials that we go through?  First, we should reflect on the reasons why we are facing them. Unfortunately, for most of us, our questioning comes from our human form of questioning of the why me? aspect.  This is of course is just questioning God. Often this type of thinking easily moves into anger. This is the exact opposite of how we are directed to respond.

We are told to “consider it pure joy.” Now thats seems a strange statement. If someone were to teach me to do that when facing trials, I would be tempted to call him an idiot. This would of course reveal only an immaturity and the unbiblical nature of my biblical and spiritual thinking.

We should view our trials with joyfulness, knowing what is really happening. That is, when we are being tried, our faith is being tested. What does that mean? When we face a challenge, do we respond by what we see and feelor by what we believe to be true? If we are being tested it should increase our stability, our steadfastness and our faith.

Father, help me to count all thing as pure joy, whatever we face today. Give me the faith that is unwavering in all trials and let me found tested and true. Amen.
