I Believe in His Healing Power

I believe in His healing power but if it were always God’s will for people to be healed, then everyone would be healed every time he or she became ill or lives with a chronic illness. If good health were always God’s will, then Christians should never die. They should never be in pain.

Neither can we blame someone’s bad health or disease on a lack of faith, for we know, biblically, that God sometimes uses illness to accomplish His will. Paul “left Trophimus sick in Miletus” (2 Timothy 4:20), and Paul himself had a physical ailment that the Lord declined to heal (2 Corinthians 12:7–9). Jesus only healed one man at the pool of Bethesda (John 5:1-15) The list goes on. There are lots of Biblical encounters where healing was not always the final outcome.

I’m not saying God can’t perform a miracle. I believe He absolutely can. However, the greatest healing beyond physical healing is spiritual healing. While physical healing restores the body, spiritual healing addresses the deeper, often unseen, wounds of the soul, restoring a person’s relationship with God and offering lasting peace and joy. This is always the greatest outcome.

Just my thoughts today.

  1. I so agree, Chrissy. We always want physical healing but God knows and at times that does not necessarily come. We do not understand but we trust in His wisdom, faithfulness and love.
